i think i would be a little disapointed if you didnt have to cock it each time, just my tupence worth, i hope its not electric unless you still have to cock it to chamber a round.it should be simpler and more reliable to hand cock ,kind of strange that its not in some cases,or maybe its something to do with the higher power that's expected of a bolt action leading to a need for higher specification materials in the wear and tear components.

Freaky, that looks like the earlier M3 with the retracting handle to cock the bolt. Wonder if it`ll have the same battery configuration as the Ares one ?

That looks plastic to me :?

EDIT I was looking at the GAT :?

But the ICS looks a bit rough there, early days maybe.

Yeah, they've produced the original M3, rather than the M3A1 version. Nice to have both models on the market :good:

Looks like ICS made a mistake with the pic on the catalogue, new gun will be an M1 Garand AEG not an SMLE.
From a forum in the US....[link]http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=63196.800[/link]

Talking to them right now, I'll post details as they give them.
Yes, the poster appears to have been a bit of a mistake
M1 Garand - Full Metal, AEG, proprietary mags
M3 - Full Metal, Full Auto only, AEG, proprietary mags
SMLE - No firm plans at this time, but it is under consideration
New gearbox designs on all counts.

Lets face it so easy to do considering the M14 has been around for enough years, just the manufacturers could not see the point maybe.

True that,
I'm mostly intrigued in the "proper mag" statement. Does this mean they have figured out the top loading puzzle? If they did I'd like to know how for starters :)

proper mags

Let's not jump to conclusions. They only said "proprietary", which I read as "incompatible with existing magazines". There is no indication of them being top loaded or resembling a Garand clip.

Hello chaps,
Thought i'd add some extra stuff i spied on the vietnam forum, apparently ARES are making/going to make a silenced sten with the cover. anyone got details on that?

cheers to you all.

If that`s the UK Nam forum then you might`ve got confused, the silenced Sten mentioned is a custom AGM model offered by Airsoft Armoury, the Ares connection was the link below that on the thread to the M3A1 grease gun. 8)

i know quite a few people will cut you down as soon as you mention it, but making a garand top loading AEG should be doable. The P90 uses a top down feed system (as also used in the bren guns from S&S) and if you are willing to sacrifce power and range by using a micro gearbox (those found in the MP7 / scorpion) or something slightly different (ares grease gun? ) i can not see why not. If you pulled back a "fake" bolt which then reveals a place for a mag to snap into would probably be the best bet. The mags would have to be small (probably smaller than the shotgun mags used atm) but again it should be possible. Just my 2 pence.

Also it is such a shame that the enfield is not being made :(

It said P R O P R I E T A R Y, not "proper" the words mean different things.
Proprietary, in this case, means "unique to this use", "only for this gun", "only made by one manufacturer", etc. In other words, it's not a modified M14 that can take M14 mags or shotgun mags like many of the Garand conversions out there.

e.g. the mags for SRC MP5 are proprietary, but mags for TM MP5s are not.

Yey a garand! I might well be tempted with one of those! Even though I have one at the moment as well... I'll be very interested to see what they come up with!
